Im assuming, by his age, that he is on the state pension, and possibly pension credits, which have different criteria than universal credit. I wouldn't dream of asking him what benefits he's on, thats his business and no one else's. The simplest thing would be to phone the 0800 number on the governments pensions website and ask Cheers. 1

Few lads I know all sat having a chat other night an one lad said, this over time is killing mw in this heat, other lad (who a pole but been here 10 year) piped up an saidc I think your mad doing it, your only one who does it an you don’t get no thanks, so first lad says, yeah but I cant really afford to live on x amount a week with bills an family. So the over time helps top up my wages to keep things sweet at home. pole replied with, you do know the job centre makes up the diff for you, you earn x a week an I earn y a week but the credit folks make my wage upto be same as yours first lad walked out his job next day, lad been working weekends for last few years when nobody else would, an they was gettin the diff made up anyways off job centre, whilst he wa shaving to pay fuel an allsorts to earn the bit extra, proper sickened the lad, i proper feel for him I don't think it'll be made up to the same wage at all . Tbh if your getting regular overtime from work and ain't on a bad wage you'll be doing far better than what the government will give you .
