Yeah. No way do I fancy having to push a 7mm sds bit ~ If I have one??? Know I've got 6 and 8 ~ through 2x. Think I'll just order a Good 7mm bit too. My wood bits all seem to be utter wood burners! I actually grab a couple of random sized, provenly really decent, general bits now, when ever I think of it
jok 3,474
Am I missing something here? Why would you need a marker when all you do is drill straight through your work and fix? Giving you a bit of advice, all your local window companies use these fixings and will sell them to you for next to nowt. They come in 60/90/100/120mm. Saves you going to Wickes and buying 100 of something that you don’t need. Only my opinion. Jok.
Ken's Deputy 4,463
So, for my 2x2, 70mm long screws?

Ken's Deputy 4,463
Seems a bit harsh, Don? Real, live " 2 x 2 " is only 1 1/2". And it's only for a light bit of panelling. Somewhere to fix to. Rather than load bearing.

Ken's Deputy 4,463
Yeah. I was thinking about that myself. There's a render coat. So, allowing that half an inch, max ..... Maybe I should compromise and look for 80's I used some ordinary wood screws and plugs on exactly the same bits of wood, for a window shutter frame. Four foot lengths. Three 80mm screws. They're never moving! But, that sort of showed me that 80mm is about as much screw as I ever want to have to get into these walls, through 2x. Couldn't half of done with the marker though. Sent for one now. One of the Pica's. I'll report back, in due course

It is that simple mate, drill through the wood in situ and screw the frame fix straight in... 6mm masonry bit straight through... I'd be using a 90mm through a 2" timber....
