am i missing something here about the breeding of silver jills to silver hobs, and silvers to bew, can someone enlighten me, as to what problems will and can arise from this breeding, let me just say ive bred, worked, and kept ferrets of all types and strains for 60 yrs, never heard this stated before, look forward to any replies, iwill live and learn, asi in the past always produced good stock, from any type of ferrets used, but some were a lot better than others, never had any health problems.

Silver is meant to be the ferret equivalent of merle and breeding two together can cause defects, no guarantees it will but it can.

have you seen this first hand gnipper, and what were the symptoms, know it happens with merles, with deafness and blindness, but never heard of it occuring with ferrets.

Silver to silver is a bad move but it produces fancy colours so its done , only time i ever had to get a litter put down was that cross the vet said it was like a mother catching measles during pregnancy
