I think the Yellowstone example was impressive, at a cost to local farmers , but for the greater good, I obviously would want to shoot the lot if they came taking my dogs but I'd have Kangals I reckon, those big north American wolves are a different thing altogether they can hold onto a bison and huge in comparison to euro wolf. Personally I'd say there is probably enough farmland with having to graze the mountains, but again it's what they done for generations , round my way they're not happy that nearly every field has livestock in or arable they've got to graze every inch of forest too, and say it's for the ecosystem, which isnt the case in my view cattle just trash the place, there's deer that seem a more natural alternative. I think there should be more land allocated to public access , rather than everyone having to used the lanes and roads for running walking riding etc.

Just asking because I think it's what I've heard / read, mate. But, aren't deer mean't to overpopulate. Then destroy the understory of a forest ~ causing some ecological mayhem I'm sure the likes of LPD could better understand and explain than I.

So, then they want the wolves in, to bring the deer numbers down ....?

 

As an aside; The septics are great sport, on this! As ever, they Demand their cake, and eat it. One lot want the wolves. Then they demand to be able to hunt them, at will ~ no idea what a wolf skin fetches. But, it's a fukking Serious pay day!

Then, the Deer Hunters get all pouty, because They reckon the wolves are munching on 'Trophy Bucks' that They want to kill. Throw in the Ranchers and the Ecologists? Perfect fukking shit storm! Thread can run for Ever on it!

Introducing wolves to keep deer down is sort of like introducing foxes to keep rabbits down. Yeah where theres a few deer youll find wolves same as where theres a few rabbits youll find fox but i think the main concern would be to shepherds and ranchers like a fox getting into a chicken coop i bet there been a few big kills about.
