Bull arab dogs

I haven't a clue how they are bred, but I shy away from the Saluki theory simply because I've been down there quite a few times, and hunted with many lads, mainly running dogs and terriers, and not one of them has had, or knows anyone who has working Salukis.

This is strange to me, as the land and quarry are perfectly suited to the Saluki; an abundance of hares and land so big it makes the fens look like my allotment !

Other theory I read was the creator was Obsessed with Arab related stuff so penned the name bull arab

And so do most hunters here but I've seen the saluki type Bull Arabs in FNQ nearly 45 years ago before the Bull Arab became a known breed in the rest of Oz. The dogs about now have no saluki blood but have stolen the name of the original type. You hear all kinds of stories about the original dogs being bred on an Arab horse stud and other BS but I spoke to the old hunters up North about the dogs and they were very Saluki looking.

Still on my bucket list is a trip on the Ghan Railway. Named after the Afghani camel herders that were shipped into Oz with the camels to open up the interior.

Its about a five day trip from one end of Oz to the other, stopping off in places like Aires Rock and Alice Springs.

That's what I read the saluki is why it's called Arab
