Ken's Deputy 4,463
Hang on. Everyone's missing the point here I Know it's corvid's. No need for sand. I'd just like to See the buggers at it. Hence the idea of a web cam. I have one, actually. Motion activated too. Only, I can't get it onto this vile fukking system. Too busy, today, to be staring out the window. Got Plan B up my sleeve though. Crafty fukker like that. Just need to think it through a bit more yet. Where's Gman? You know your trail cam's. Mine's a Bushnell Trophy. I'm wondering if it could be set so, say, a magpie triggers it. But, not a scattering of chaffinches? Sort of answering my own question really, but; Point it at a bait away from where the fukking chaffinches go! Fukking idiot! Christ, I'm fukking slow myself, some times! Greyman 33,552
They can be quite clever and interesting to watch sometimes, used to have a crow that would watch my misses get the chickens eggs from the garden and put them on the bench while she picked up the dog shit on the lawn, he would swoop down and take an egg without her ever catching him, only when he dropped one as he made off did she suss out what was happening

Half the people on this site have seen little more than rabbits, hares, fox and/or some species of deer, and those animals are everywhere. Yet those same people are out in the counryside all the time. That’s a very broad assumption there mate .Stands to reason that people who are out most will see more and if something looked out of place like a large cat I’m sure they would notice and log it in the brain . From what I’ve read on here ,there appears to be a very wide section that can ID wildlife as well as the self proclaimed experts . What your suggesting is lads walk around with eyes half closed

Our security cam at the yard is on a loop .It records activity to a hard drive but loops round again if nothing happens .Don’t ask me how it detects movement ,IR I guess ,but I do know it saves trolling through hours of nothing should something happen . Ken's Deputy 4,463
Yeah. What I'd like is one of those jobs where you have a little box, up in the corner of your screen? Know what I mean? So, I can be sitting here, reading and writing bollocks. But, all the time keeping half an eye on what's going on out there. As it is? I have to physically stop. Stand up. Turn a quarter and look out the window. Now, I know that doesn't sound like much. But, to do it every five f***ing minutes, and still likely to miss the moment? PITA! Anyway, I'm in it for the long haul. Scheming like fukk here. There's far more to it all than I'm letting on. But, that's how I roll

I agree with you about some of the guys on here, re ID ing wildlfe, brilliant, but I wouldn't call it a very wide section. I'd say it's a miniscule amount of the population that are really into their wildlife. Be great if one of them could capture something clearly definitive. A lot of those pics they put on here are professional standard.
Squirrel_Basher 17,103
Few are pros mate Even if lads do miss the smaller creatures like voles ,mice and weasels I’d say if something was out of place ,they’d notice . Agreed about the capture on film of one of these elusive cats though .Until that day it’s very hard for me to take in but I’ll be the first to say so if any proof emerges you can be sure of that .

Ken's Deputy 4,463
Hams, my man; This is exactly what I'm ruminating on as we speak. Basically, I have two ideas, right now. Neither very satisfactory. Thus I'm chewing it over. Obviously, I could wire a slab of meat. But, they'd see the wire straight away. Option two would be a Concrete Screw. Literally screw the fukking thing to the ground. But, how long might that hold out? I once pinned out a sheeps head. I think it was the Second night that a fox played tug of war with it, and won! Got that on film too. I need to habituate crows to flocking to a precise spot. But, I need to be tidy as well as focussed. Ideally putting the attractant out, daily. Not leaving any trace of it over night. It's not like I can just drag a dead sheep out there and let it be.
South hams hunter 8,997
We have crows eating the bread crusts from the babies toast in the morning, we find that the habit of the same time has them waiting for us each morning. Why not between a few items so that it can't fit through ? Excuse the poor drawing but something like this
