See to me this is an example of where we could really do better environmentally. We have this renewable resource that is essentially worthless and has been replaced by a much less environmentally friendly alternative (polyester).

Depending on your politics we could either incentivise wool products with the tax system or make a bigger push socially.

A social hearts and minds campaign would always be the preferred option for me buddy.

It costs every farmer more to shear the sheep than the price they get back for the wool, I’d guess twice as much.

Its criminal that we have this wonderful natural resource and it’s worthless.

Just to add, I’ll be offering mine for free to folks next year if the price is still shite for insulation and anything else they want to do with it, I’m a member of a couple of traditional cottage renovation groups and I’ll just pop it in there....I’d rather give it away than see it go to waste.

Years ago, you sell the wool, you'd have plenty for all the dose and marking equipment for the whole year, now it's just mainly burnt or dumped in the field

Plenty of potential for a small industry to get up and running again.

Seen vids on YouTube wilf with them using the wool in the veg patches. Great idea.
