I’ve had this blade sat for ages whilst I was looking for a really nice handle material. Cut down an ash tree last week with a lovely tiger stripe pattern through the middle so used that as the handle. I’ve put a false edge on the tip and roughed and blue backed the top quarter of the knife and put a pattern down half of the spine.

Looks great mate, would the "newness" of the wood not have any effect of the finish of the handle?

Cheers, D.

No mate. I cut the wood down into inch square pieces and soak in pentacryl for two days. Let them drip dry and then dry them in the oven for two days. Result is a completely dry and hard material.
