20g and the squirrels.

Recommended Posts

I was out last night checking the lambs and after a previous sleepless night before I was like a zombie walking, half asleep! Bumped into slinky again, about 10pm, like normal. Going to try baiting her again.

Anyway today I just took a stroll in the timber of a local estate with my super light 20g hunting for squirrels. Got seven in the end. My dog got to digging one out that crawled down a rabbit hole. Had a good time and only used 24g 7&1/2's.

Lovely to be out this time of year and to be wandering about the woods with a gun, even better, I never managed to get out today so I’m off for a walk out around the shoot tonight just to see if there’s a ginger about but mainly just for a walk out in the fresh air ?

The near one has it's ear folded down but it looks like that it was blown clean off.  I once saw a rabbit that both of its ears were shot off.  The rabbit had been killed but both ears had been taken off at the same time.  Total fluke shot.  Nice clear focused picture. A. bloke who shot one was told that it was too far.!   He shouted back "Nahh it was well in range".  The first bloke said "NO not out of range". " It's too far to carry the blighter back to the farm". ????

Well I had my walk out last night, no foxes shot but did see 2 through the thermal, now I do like thermal but it can be frustrating when it allows you to see things you have no chance of getting on, anyway despite not getting a ginger it was a lovely night to be out, crystal clear sky with no moon, just the stars to look up at, I did see a lot of rabbits which was good to see, I may need these if them tw*ts don’t stop panic buying us into starvation ?

Lovely photograph SD

I had a short session with my pal's 20 gauge o/u which I really enjoyed and is on my wish list.

A good day / night forcast today so we will be out for a session tonight but before that, I need to go and take in the trail cameras to see if out hunch is right or charlie but to be honest, I have a feeling the problem in this particular case is badgers not foxes.  We will see what is on the camera.
