Meece 1,958
If one similar could be found here in the SE of England with the outbuildings, barn and 12 acres ....12 acres !,,!! You'd be looking at a couple of million. There was a bungalow up the road with about 75yard garden and that went for 750k. Over the road from that property is a shack wooden ( knock it down) style bungalow,........ ( knock it down) style.!! With no planning permission but good view across fields. Being offered for sale with an idea to put several houses on plot. So basicaly a shack, a piece of ground and a vague suggestion. £450 k= aprox = € 523,300 that's before you throw a spade into the ground !

There's no infrastructure, what so ever, no public transport, very very little employment, no super markets, cinema ect ect. But, it's safe, no crime, no foreigners, no travellers, for the most part everyone minds there own business. You do what you like, as long as it doesn't interfere in anyone else's life. And you can always rely on your neighbours to help if and when needed. Atb j 3
jetro 5,349
A house next door to me, right on a lovely beach. A brand new house. Yes it needs a bit of work, but a person could put their own stamp on it. Could be bought for less than the asking price Atb j

On one hand thats Absoulty crazy money, you have to take into consideration where your living, and what it has to offer work, money, transport ect ect. Atb j
Meece 1,958
That is a lovely way òf life. When I went up through Wales there were fields and fields of sheep and maybe a white farmhouse in the distance and I thought,... yes... but where's the electric, water, telephone, sewage, shops, supermarket.? What the he'll do the women do there with no interaction with others.? It's like that tv program .... Alaska, the last frontier. Very pretty scenery, alone, clean life style exactly as you describe but there its so cold and dark and misserable for most of the year . Sitting in a shack for 8 months of the year isn't my idea of fun. there are busses around here but not very often because apart from the odd old person that doesn't drive or younsters everyone has cars. Years ago all the mums used to walk the kids to school nowadays everyone drives and only a few walk. they've all got to go to jobs ect to service the mortgage payments. HEY. The rain has stopped and the sun is out and hot. The spaniel is looking at me to go out on patrol. It doesn't care that it will have to be hosed down when it comes back.
WILF 49,206
A lot of English don’t last long here because they go cold turkey on all their rules and regulations, someone telling them what to do, where to park, wether they can or can’t put up a shed, lack of rushing around like head cases, people who DONT give a shit if you double park, your cars less than 5 years old, the doors held on with rope. They can’t get their head round 14 year olds flying about in tractors or that the world don’t start until after 9am They can’t deal with the way everyone drives to the pub and home again, nobody thinks their cat is a “real baby” and that dogs just live out and run about. Personally, I love it.....beyond words. London and the surrounding areas are so far up their own arse and uptight about everything it’s horrible. 7

It's the isolation that gets to a lot of people who move in here. Sure it's nice in the summer, but this time of year, especially with the weather we've been having, they can't hack it. Seen a lot sell up again. As you said they can't quite get their minds around our way of life. Long may it continue Atb j
