Sausagedog 7,381
Channel four news did an item on the decline of bugs in the countryside. Amazingly it was not blamed on shooting sports but I'm sure they tried their best! No it was blamed on modern farming of cereals and vegetables and fruit! Spraying pesticides etc ( of which I am not a fan of myself) so it appears the surge in vegertarian and veganism is putting overwhelming pressure on growers to produce more and more foods for the fuss pots and is thus having a negative impact of the food supply of all manner of wildlife! I must also say that I have never gone out to shoot bugs for fun. Edited February 13, 2020 by Sausagedog 1 2 Quote Link to post

Dervburner 2,549
Let’s see what we get on 1st August then............ ‘The new general licences will be issued in early July to give us time to adjust to them by the time they come into force in August. Let’s hope it’s workable. Quote Link to post
Sausagedog 7,381
It'll be workable alright.... Crows peck sheep's and calves eyes out rendering the animal useless. Sheep and cattle are an important food source for the overwhelming majority of the omnivore human population. Cereals and vegetables growers produce a valuable food source not only for the huge omnivore human population but also for the minority vegetarians and the even smaller group vegans. Those crops are not grown solely for wild bird feed! Our special friends need to check their own sanity! Vegans don't like anything via animals, so what do they wear? Man made fibres....made from....drum roll please....oil! Probably the worst product ever known for damaging wildlife and habitat. Cotton, about 1%of cotton is grown organically so that means most cotton has been sprayed to kill bugs, sprayed with a poison derived from the petrochemical industry, probably the same company they bought fuel from to get to a climate change rally! Their shoes often use plastic, new or recycled, don't matter, it's toxic! They use a lot of natural fibres but can not guarrente that the country of origin did not use poison on pest species to meet their idealistic demand for the product. The other issue is, how do they think all their special foods and what have you arrives on their door steps? That's right, by burning huge amounts of fossil fuels! Thousands, no, millions of critters die on the roads transporting their demands based on an idyl! When I see a vegan wearing nothing but a grass skirt all year round and living in a mudhut lit via coconut oil that they walked to the appropriate continent for to acquire the coconut I might, and it's only a very slight might start listening to them! 1 2 Quote Link to post
