Re-loading 28g cartridges

Recommended Posts

I bought a couple of boxes of Eley VIP 28g just before Xmas at £8 per box and whilst they are lovely cartridges, this is going to get very expensive. I am hoping my pal does decide to take this route so reloading will be a shared cost and not whalop my pension too much. For the time being, I am going to keep buying a few boxes each time I go in the shop building up a stock and also used hulls for loading later. The VIPs are a 6 star crimp which I must admit I really like and thought they would make for better reloading than rolled turnover, actually just thinking about it, I need to look if the loaders have the option of star crimps in 28g.

Phill. You could have a sizer turned on a lathe. The dimensions are readily available on the net.

You only need a drift to punch the spent cap out and some suitable steel tube to tap the case down on the new primer.

Powder, wads and shot and a roll crimper.
