Man - O – War Dog Show and Race Day held Saturday 25th July 2020.
The town land of Man - O - War is set in the shadow of Clay Lake, surrounded by picturesque countryside and sits on the outskirts of Keady, Co Armagh. This was the venue for the annual Man- 0 - War Dog Show and Race Day Saturday 25th July, and what an enjoyable day that was.
Saturdays show was to be a very special day for every show goer this year, as finally the long months and lonely days of lockdown were gradually coming to an end and the showing and racing season easing its way in.
From early morning, cars and trailers arrived from North and South of the border with dogs in tow. This was a good working dog show and a real treat for all huntsmen and women, before the work in the field creeps over the hill. A Burger van, along with Doggie lead and collar stands were on site.
As the show progressed, so did the banter and the craic. The weather held out all day, with the exception of a few showers in late evening. It was a real treat to hear again the sound of barking dogs and childrens laughter echo around the field, bringing back a sense of yesteryear again.
The show commenced at approx 1.00pm with racing first.
Here are the Racing and Showing results.

A Big congratulations to all the worthy winners.
And Finally, Charlene would like to thank the Judges on the day, Conor Quinn/ Vincey Grimley/ Philip Mc Rory/ Eoin Barnes and Aidy Toal. Judging is not an easy job, but you all carried out your duties to perfection. Photographs were taken on the day and are on Facebook at the moment. Many thanks to Deirdre Mc Coy and Mairead Fearon for same.
And Finally Finally, as always I save the best to last. It is fitting that this accolade goes to the host and organiser of the show Charlene Rafferty and her brilliant back up team. Charlene you pulled out all the stops to make this show so successful for everybody on the day, and in the lead up to the show you worked tirelessly with your team to make every part of your show go like clockwork.
Well done Charlene, your show was a credit to you and your team. Roll on 2021 for more of the same.

FROM THE PEN OF : ALBERT  TITTERINGTON       SHANES CASTLE GAME FAIR - POSTPONED TO 26th & 27th June 2021 A NEW ‘VIRTUAL FAIR’ FOR THIS YEAR - COMING SOON As many will be aware when Covid struck we put in place contingency plans to postpone the fair planned for Shanes Castle in June. Later, as the pandemic became more serious, we implemented them to plan to run on the 29/30 August. Unfortunately we have now had to take the difficult decision to postpone the Irish Game Fair until NEXT YEAR on 26/27 June 2021. It was a difficult decision to make as we had everything in place: a new layout, a Covid compliant plan right down to branded Game Fair face masks and loads of sanitiser; and a good range of new exhibitors were committed to being there. However, in spite of all that we had done, recent spikes and clusters in the UK and in particular in NI and the ROI created the additional dimension of a greater health risk to visitors’, exhibitors’, competitors’ and staff safety which we felt we could not ignore. I would like to thank a number of people and organisations who worked with us to try to deliver the 2020 fair. These include: Jim Shannon, MP who took our case to the highest level in government; our hosts the Rt Hon Shane O’Neill at Shanes Castle and staff at Antrim & Newtownabbey Council; our contractors; event organisers and entertainers; our sponsors and exhibitors; and last but not least our Great Game Fairs of Ireland team who invested a great deal of time and money making plans and then amending them. Part of our contingency planning was that if we had to postpone the fair until 2021 we would run a VIRTUAL GAME FAIR in 2020. It’s a BRAND NEW CONCEPT - and you will hear a lot more very soon as the site is designed and currently being built. Our VIRTUAL GAME FAIR 2020 will open for business at www.thevirtualgamefair.com on the 29th & 30th August 2020. The Virtual Game Fair will run throughout the year 24/7 with an exciting mix of exhibitors, competitions and bargains galore. The slogan will be ‘The Game Fair you can visit every day’ See the upcoming Autumn issue of Irish Country Sports and Country Life and this group for more news!
