im off to Si,s for the new year if you want ill meet you some where and

lone you mine for a month or two that way you will get to try before you buy Phil

ill set every thing back to zero and tell you what to do to rezero it when we meet

Try it by all means Phil but the ones i have looked through new and old have been crap even with a lens conversion , my mate who had both thought the same  . I know a few of you have the photon and get on with them ,but it's just my opinion 

If its for your fac air then you would not go wrong with ward 700 / 800  or even look at the new Pulsar N350 . My mate has just got one and we went out the other evening to try it and my god it is good , he did say why did i waste the money on both of the photons and lens conversion .

At the end of the day it's personal choice and if you haven't tried any different NV units ,  photon  does seem good   same as any NV .

I wish i never got rid of my ward ,best add on NV unit IMO and a everyone  will tell you the same on the night vision forum

Not sold on anything for certain yet Mitch nor could I afford to just splash the cash at the moment but it more a process of elimination. I know the NiteSite Viper very well which has helped with a great many kills and I am sure it will on my rimmy as it does on my fac air rifles. I have never tried the Photon, ATN, Pulsar or Ward so whilst various people have said how good these units are, and I don't doubt it for a minute, however I have not tried any of them.

Before I retired, I would have just bought whichever and see how it went but I don't have that luxury now so the purchase has to be right for me and you yourself have said that the Ward can be very scope fussy so an expensive item if it doesn't work for me and I am still not so keen on 80mm stuck on the back of the scope, it just doesn't sound great for fit but again without at least looking through one, I just don't know.

 

I am in no rush and will use the NiteSite anyway for ratting so not without an NV while I am learning about other options. That is the great thing about Jimmy's kind offer as it will give me first hand experience although it is not the RT version but nevertheless the first dedicated fixed NV I will have tried.

Thank you for that kind offer as well. It has crossed my mind already but to be honest I am desperate for some good weather to test the rimmy out to max ranges and be happy with the ammo before I start with the NV for this gun, I will however take you up on the offer if it is still around when I am ready.

I think the photon is good for the money they cost and the fact you can use it like an normal scope

once you take the rubber eye peace off .

iv seen Si ,,,put his to good use out in the field and at some good distances i can tell you

iv say.d this before Mitch not every one has a grand or more laying around for nv

so the photon fits the bill in more ways than one

and like every thing you just have to get used to them

a bit of practice go,s a long way even if it dose do your head in like me lol

Iv had some good nv units over the years and never got on with them may be its a case of

IV GOT TO HIT THE FACTORY SOME TIME IN THE WEEK (IF THEY DONT CANCEL AGAIN)

ONCE I DO ILL RESET EVERY THING AND BOX IT UP AND SEND IT DOWN TO YOU MATE

THE FACTORY IS WHY I BOUGHT IT IN THE FIRST PLACE AS I CAN LAY UP AT SET ZERO AND HIT THEM HARD LOL

Okay Jimmy I will send a PM in a few minutes mate. If this does what you want at the factory, You will be needing to make inroads on the rabbits won't you.
