Ferrets Sleeping

Recommended Posts

I've got 2 kits here and 1 of them has had me and Mrs believing she's dead on more than 1 occasion . She sleeps so heavy it's unreal. The other is the first up and around but this one is like a corpse when I open their box and is lifeless when I pick her up. She wakes up after a few heavy seconds and then is exactly like the other bounding around play fighting and being generally busy. Everything about her is fine and I have no worry about her it's just a general question about their sleep. It's my first time having kits soon just wondering do others have ferrets the same

Had that happen a few times. My old jill a few weeks ago thought she was a goner. I had her by the scruff giving her little shake sod all. Breathing very gentle laid her on the floor nothing. Then all of sudden she just woke up lol

Some must be more prone to the heavy sleeping than others. I got an adult jill like that. Dead to the world when you go into the run, even picking her up doesnt wake her. Thought she was dead the first time I saw her doing it. Got a litter of kits here too and one was nearly dumped last week, wee thing was lifeless and limp like a bit of rope for ages when I picked it up, thought for sure it was dead, then it woke up lol. Not a bother on it.

Deep sleep syndrome some ferrets are prone to it , it does scare you when you think there dead though

Came home from work dinnertime for a coffee and Mrs was really upset and Shakey . By that point the ferret was up and bouncing but she was still in shock . Shed opened cage and the one woke up and started running around but the other just lay there. She picked it up and it was limp and thought it was dead . Put it down and it still didnt move. She started blubbing then but it started waking up.
