Nik_B 3,791
Fun fact....did you know that the earths magnetic field flips ever ~2-ish million years? The poles reverse completely within 1-2 thousand years which is very fast

The poles reverse completely within 1-2 thousand years which is very fast I kind of knew that just not the time scale ...I think the more worrying one is the earth wobble on its axis in a 25k year cycle thought to be responsible for the periodic ice ages ...when you think the UK was under over a mile of ice in the last ice age how the fek will we cope when we run out of grit by the end of December?

Thats the milankovitch cycles iirc....they're one of the reasons. I wrote a paper on them years ago. Cool fact....when the glacial ice sheets retreated from Britain the plate we're part of started to bouy up or rebound due to the lifting of all that weight. It's called isostatic rebound if I remember right and is measurable in the South of England (mm scale per year)...something to think of the next time some global warming spastic starts banging on about how we're all going to drown

I think its more likely just the natural waxing and waning of the ice sheets caused by earths cycles but why let the truth get in the way of big business Edited December 8, 2016 by kanny

I think its more likely just the natural waxing and waning of the ice sheets caused by earths cycles but why let the truth get in thd wsy of big business We cause pollution no doubt but the earth is a powerful beast that has survived major events like asteroid impacts etc....I don't think a bit of CO2 is going to be a problem. Lots of data out there but these nutters don't talk to geologists they focus of 100 years of dodgy data from a planet that is 4.6 billion years old and then like to extrapolate....embarrassing!!! We're coming out of an ice age, that is a fact so warming should happen over several thousand years....also is a fact is that Europe was once uninhabitable until there was 'global warming' so.....not such a bad thing after all. We had many very well known academics at Uni who all laughed at global warming.....I bet they don't dare laugh now....could lose your job!

Yeah that one kills me when the tree huggers claim "we're killing the earth" errr no we not the earth will be just fine ...as you say the earth has rebounded many times from much worse the earth will be just fine ...us on the other hand maybe not . Nik_B 3,791
That guy was a very serious scientist and well known palaeontologist, stratigrapher and marine geologist. This is stuff we all studied when I was university. I suspect he started doing these talks when he started to see glaring inconsistencies in 'modern science' in the way I did when I was reading about Syria or Libya in my other thread....at some point you can't just sit back and say nothing when the facts being presented are clearly b*llshit. Bob passed away recently, a sad loss

More CO2 = Bigger trees There's a simple one for the morons I don't know how old you are but when I was 15 the 'environment' was in a far shitter state back then, rivers polluted etc I advise to those morons to walk outside for a bit....the environment looks pretty f*cking awesome from where I'm sitting
