Thought you 'british' pest controllers might find this interesting.

Asian hornets nest quite active middle of November

Before and after treatment - removal, in France.

Bloody hell.

We got scaffold a few years ago from Asia and in side one of the tubes was a nest of those large hornets. When I turned the tube upright the nest slid out and all the Hornets had died from the cold.

They're pretty formidable looking insects. Not something to look forward to if they spread to our shores.

Theyve arrived Neil, down south west England direction.

They came to Bordeaux France aboard a ship from Asia apparently.

Gets to minus -15 around me and lowest ever was -20, the following year I anticipated less nests, but no significant change.

a nest of those large hornets.

Actually smaller than our native European hornet - not to mistaken with the "Giant Asian Hornet".

Arrived in Tetbury, Gloucestershire a couple of months ago. The nest was destroyed so hopefully no queens had developed/left to hibernate over winter.

Sorry Neil, missed the fact that your in Ireland.

Interesting/worrying to see they had burrowed into the wall behind.

Giant hornets from Asia are a different species, they are huge!

The Asian hornets here are actually smaller than our native ones.
