Sirblessed 2,511
I woke up Sunday morning with excitement and anticipation, for the day that lay ahead, we were off to check out a new permission which promised much, It wasn’t long before the dogs, ferrets, nets and gear were packed in the car, and my daughter Rachael and her bf Brian were knocking at the door. The plan was to meet up with Gareth (the owner’s son) and follow him to the property, all went according to plan. We arrived at the gate of the first of two quarries we had planned to inspect today, he showed us around pointed out the hot spots, and had a bit of a chat. I looked at the sky and thought this doesn’t look to good (the weather report said overcast with the possibility of a shower or two) Always the optimist I started to get the gear out, we headed for one of the spots Gareth pointed out, he was also in tow. Set up 75 yard of long net, and purse nets down, the three dogs waiting for the ferrets to be entered, less than 5 mins after Rachael put them down the rain began, we managed three rabbits before it started to get to heavy, and decided to pick up the ferrets pack up and see if it would pass over. No such luck it rained all day we spent the rest of the day scouting by car both the quarries discussing our future plan of attacks. All in all it was still a fun day with a few laughs, and best of all a large portion of both have good lamping areas. 6 Quote Link to post

Tiercel 6,986
Looks a tidy place, nice bit of wind and you could have some fun with the long nets in the night there. I can't get over with the gorse bushes how much that could be a scene from a British days ferreting especially with the rain. TC 2 Quote Link to post

TC They even got some frosts and a sprinkling of snow in Ballarat earlier this year, so even more like GB 2 Quote Link to post
