Just got one in a bit of fishing bric a brac.

 

Anyone ever use these and how did you and it fair?

Hi Columbo iv got a scout reel same at that - it's nice but after a few casts I got line twist and found it slow on the retrive because of the drum size. It's a nice little reel tho.

About 50 years ago Young's made a reel called the Ambidex, While other reels even Mitchell's were around the £5 to £10 mark the Ambidex was £15 to £20 but what a reel for the time, really well made and even smoother than a Mitchell.

Was thinking of parting with it, maybe trade for some traditional floats or something, but..

In a year or 2 will be doing up a fishing/sporting cottage to rent out (private lake & access to local rivers, catfish/carp).

So gonna hang on for stuff like this and hopefully so old shooting and hunting bits and bobs. See a fair bit at the boot fairs around here.
