PeskyWabbits 464
The victim was a Muscovy female. She had moved out of the run and was nesting under a lawnmower bucket next to a veg patch. Still in a fenced off area but not securely fenced. I think she had wandered off up the field when she was jumped. So not a big surprise. This is all that remains The nest has also been raided. Just a few empty shells left and duck down scattered. Not sure if this will have been the fox or rats. So on high alert now. Have been walking round the run. Will probably pin down sheets of wire netting till I can get some proper defences.

jok 3,481
Speaking from certain knowledge, ( I lost all 18 birds) the little rascal is indeed clever. Don't know if you read my post but shit came into the pen from about 7 ft up. How the hell did he work that one out. Just cost me an arm and a leg to get the new birds and sort out the 'secure' pen. Every morning I walk down there in leaded boots. Good news is they are all laying like mad so there is a silver lining. I've Cheshire Blues (pale blue eggs),black rock, white star, light Sussex and a lovely little banty running with an equally lovely little cockerel. Nice mix of colours agin with the eggs so everyone is happy. My advice is do everything you possibly can including roof netting. Jok.
