The one 8,571
While its still early they have started asking folk to hand in unwanted air guns in the next couple of weeks then after that everybody that holds on to there air guns will be presumed to be applying for a licence . My F.A.O. said anybody with a shotgun cert or fire arms should have no problem acquiring a licence it just the folk with only a air gun is going to take the time as they will need to be checked out from scratch Quote Link to post

whipbed 42
thanks for the replies. i have checked out the basc info but overall there seems very little to go on considering the new law comes into force soon. i hear different opinions from a licience to a certificate? thought i may be missing something but it appears there is no info out there. GruffaloGriff 1,859
In the same boat myself. Accurate info on the web seems non existent. News reports say you can apply for a license from July 1st and has to be licensed by Dec 31st 2016 or else becomes illegal. As for how much, whether different license for sub 12 ftlbs and FAC air rifles, one license to cover all your air weapons or do serial numbers for each weapon need to be recorded etc etc i don't believe they know themselves yet ( i stand to be correct if anyone can point me to such info). Contact Police Scotland seems to be the only sensible advice. I have spoken direct to them before about FAC cert for air rifles and they were actually very helpful and gave good info.
