It does small game a treat and it is plenty for Charlie. It even despatched a wounded fallow doe I happened on once. It has all but replaced my 22 lr! U. Quote Link to post
Deker 3,491
I don't know many people that shoot a wmr how do you get on with it mate? The WMR was never an incredibly popular calibre in the UK, it was, and still is widely used in the US. The HMR came along and was lauded as the new Messiah, it quickly established itself and many WMR owners were converted. Since that time WMR ammo varieties have increased and improved. Many people have realised that the HMR is not necessarily a replacement for the WMR but an addition, and WMR ownership has slowly risen again in the UK, admittedly it is still way below the HMR. My last WMR favoured 40g CCI Maxi-Mag V, my latest prefers the Hornady 30g V-Max, which is fine, it is fast hits hard and does what it says. As it happens, it also has a very similar flight path the a 17g HMR V-Max out to around 100 yards and is very nearly as consistently accurate. 1" is easy to achieve with this ammo combination for me. Personally, I love my WMR, it most definitely has a place in my cabinet along with my other rimfires and centrefires! Quote Link to post
