9" Detachable Hushpower For 410

Recommended Posts

Hi all I've recently bought a Wembley and Scott bolt action 410 with hushpower fitted

Fired it few times and doesn't seem that much difference than an understanding silenced. Took hushpower off and noticed some of baffles are bent outta shape like the shot had hit it anyone know where I can get new baffles from for it

I had an old foreign W&S bolt action lookalike with short moderator. The moderator was a lot less effective than the things we made out of ordinary house-hold items(won't go into that ). I ended-up improving it by dint of a few holes combined with aforesaid household item technology.

To test if your moderator is doing anything ,stand in the middle of a field and fire directly skyward. Then fire level with the ground or in some woodland-often the sound resonating against the ground or trees negates the silencing effect of the moderator.

Don't forget unless you use subsonic ammo, you'll still get the sonic crack / bang from the ammo.

Videos are crap at this sort of thing, but there's a good comparison here of normal vs subsonic:

Also, when selecting sub sonic, try a few different brands as some are quieter than others.

If it's still little difference with subsonic then it's probably the baffle issue. I'd probably change the baffles for peace of mind in any event, because unless you can visually identify the bore is totally clear, they could also be affecting the pattern.

BTW you can now get an easy clean baffle system for the Hushpower. Assuming it's compatible with yours, that's one way of changing the bent baffles - cost is £60. Even if not, that's probably indicative of a ball park cost for new baffling.

I'm surprised it has baffles in it at all.

I used to have one on my 410 and it consisted of a collet to attach to the barrel and the moderator body to screw onto that and that was it.

As said above, give Saddlery and Gunroom a call,. They make them so would be able to give advice or sell you spares as required.
