gnasher16 31,490
The daughter breaks horses part time, the amount of times she comes off is unbelievable, yet she will just get back on and think nothing of it. She was breaking a 17hh horse last week and it started bucking and one of the reins snapped, off she came, no problem, new reins and get back on. I think if horses are in your blood then you doomed to be poor for the rest of your life..Unless you can marry money of course. She had her first at 12 year old and from then till she started to work we could have bought a couple of new cars for what they cost us to keep. It's funny even though I rode as a youngster I was never really into horses. My grandfather was what they called a "Gaffa Haulier" he was basically a foreman in the pits who looked after the horses and broke-in all the new horses, one of my uncles got tetanus and died due to a kick from a horse my grandfather was breaking. TC It makes you realise how tough these little ladies are my mates wife is a tiny little thing they had to have the air ambulance out on Boxing Day last year as one of the horses booted her she had to have a plate in her forehead and was out riding again a few weeks later.......the standing joke was my mate being at her hospital bedside saying " these horses are gonna have to go ".......she said " i know you worry about me but they are part of my life "........." never mind you i cant be with an ugly bird " he says much to the dislike of the nurses I never understood all that hh stuff it took me ages to realise they are actually measured in the size of a hand is that right ?......your right though they cost him a fortune she was into all that dressage stuff at one point going over to France every other week in a 7 1/2 ton horse wagon he just lets her get on with it and foots the bill anything for a quiet life type of thing.....i go round there and find it all quite interesting i just wish i wasnt such a fairy around horses Edited May 4, 2016 by gnasher16
