Allotment Help!

Recommended Posts

Whilst lying under the old Disco today replacing both the exhaust and a knackered drivers seat the local farmer stopped by whilst walking her dog and asked if I could take my ferrets up to the village allotments and sort out the rabbits. I mentioned that it was now a bit late in the season for ferreting but I'll give it a go if I can but could I get up there with the S410 which she duly agreed.

So this afternoon I went up for a look without the gun or ferrets. There were lots of trip hazards to be wary of if I came at night but I did see some evidence of rabbits where they had broken through or dug under the rabbit proof netting.

Decided to pop back tonight after 11pm when all should be quiet as it is only a five minute walk up the road. Unfortunately it was a little too quiet and it was hard too creep around quietly without treading on discarded bamboo canes or tripping over watering cans. However, I soon spotted a couple of rabbits making their way towards the boundary and so I edged a bit nearer with the nearest illuminated with the red torch. Down on the shooting sticks for a steady aim and it dropped as soon as the AA Express touched base.

Then walking back round the far side I spied a pair of ears in the red glow of the torch and steadied for the shot on bunny number two that was facing directly towards me but still feeding. Wishing not to allow the gardeners hard work go to waste he quickly joined his buddy in the bag.

Had a further look around but conditions were not perfect so called it a night and was home before midnight:

Rabbits prepared ready for the game pie tomorrow when the in-laws come down for a couple of days. And the top halves go the ferrets as a midnight feast:

Erm, that bucket behind your rifle?

Good party, or what

atb.

That's all the cartridge cases my lad collects from all the shooters on the local shoot that we beat on each season. He wants to make some more x**s lights like we made before:

I've seen a nice idea of using the metal caps under a glass topped table but not sure the missus would agree.

Nice to be asked to do some pest control, perms can be hard to get of any size, and only up the road with a couple to walk home with, must be happy with it,never mind the bottles/cartridge casings, what's the rolling pin for when you prep them?:hmm:

Because I use rubber pellets that only knock them out so they'll still fresh when I get home, problem is if I stop off at the pub on the way home and get back a bit later they have often come round so I need to finish them off with the pin.

Only kidding!!

It's to hit the back of the big knife to cut them into joints, especially when removing the bit between the rear legs.
