Recommended Posts

A group of mates from sunderland have just touched down in stjordalshalsen in norway for a weeks fishing, they are cod addicts, its their once a year lads holiday,i was going to go but cod dont float my boat,i would really like to catch decent sized halibut.Anyone fished for them in norway or iceland, any tips on charter boats?I dont want to spend a fortune as i am going on a fishing holiday in thailand later in the year, anyone point me in the direction who has actually targetted halibut themselves?Theres some good halibut boats in canada but its the west coast and if i was to go there woman pressure would say east coast.

hi mack, i did hear the west is best for halibut and if i do get to go that way i wouldn't mind a bash at it myself, on the tv at the moment there's a fishing series running called cold water cowboys, there on the east side out of Newfoundland, and one boat fishes the north Atlantic just for halibut, they had some decent sized fish, it took two men to lift one of them on the boat with gaffs, using long lines, as your on the east side already, its probably your best bet to see if you could find a boat there, and plus, it would also keep your misses sweet...lol,

Yes mate,BC is where its at,i have met a guy who has fished there,he said they sometimes despatched fish with a .410 to the head before bringing the biggies aboard, sounds just my cup of tea,i will have a check for the east coast, but i just wanted somewhere local to be honest,my mates who are there at the minute flew from newcastle-Amsterdam then amsterdam-norway,i was lookingbat something similar from heathrow as the Dam is 45 minutes away.Keeping my woman sweet? She is probably getting traded in mate (glad she doesnt read this),hahaha,be lucky tilly.
