spsurfer 891
Hello, after I could get hands on a wonderful hunting knife made by Stefan Mast from 12442 steel, I decided to test this steel, too. It's a tool steel with a 2% of tungsten and a 1.2% of carbon. It will get a high hardness (about 61HRC on my knives) and a fine, edge. Now I have some raw blades for blades from a 75mm up to 120mm This one will be the next and I will make one for myself, too Here, hot stamping my blades with my logo Regards Nicolas

GruffaloGriff 1,859
Looking forward to seeing the finished article. What grinder do you have? Thinking of buying or making a belt grinder myself not decided yet.
spsurfer 891
Hello Gruffalo, this is made 90% by hand with files, just to get rid of the deepest marks, I used my grinder. My grinder is a crappy 39,-€ grinder from Lidl but most important are good belts. Regards Nicolas

My ratio is 95% power tool 5% by hand hence thinking of making a long belt grinder for serious fast removal with minimal effort. Nothing wrong with Park Tools, i take a stroll down that isle at lidl every week.
