Scope Stud On Scope Mounts. Remove Them On Pcp`s.

Recommended Posts

Well i went down to a friends gunsmiths today to buy some new mounts for the Mamba 4-16 x 50 rir scope bought last week from Viz, (Sean).

Anyway he said to me always remove the stud pin on scope mounts going on pcp`s. Now i`ve never heard this or read it before.

He said many a time these pins just work loose, you never notice they are loose and when a scope is removed a nasty scratch is usually there. Yep, remove them but save them, you dont need them on a pcp.( no recoil )

Yes Sean she is mounted(scuse the pun), levelled and plumblined to "perfection".

Tomorrow i will zero her to "strike a match" to 39 yards and then calibrate her .

Absolutely love Mamba scopes mate the reticule suits my (over 50 eye sight ) :icon_redface: shhhh ! I have Mamba`s on all my rifles now.

I have the Mamba 4-16x50 on top of my " HW 100 kt .177" for the static sitty tree hunting, she`s a fine scope mate, - what did you get in her place by the way ?

Good, so it`s not only me that has not heard this.

Mac he showed me two second hand HW 100`s with stud pin scratches, so my pin is removed  apparently this is nothing new to "gun dealers".

Probably down to numb nuts leaving them protruding to start with or simply tightening them on to the rifle.

I don't see why they should work loose, and even if they did why would they scratch?

On the other hand if they are not required, by all means remove them anyway, and its a tiny bit less weight as well!
