The one 8,593
Finally got a couple of frosty days so boxed up a couple of Jill's half a dozen nets and picked up my shotgun and headed to the closest farm to the house , parked the car in the field and there's three roe deer looking at me the lurcherrs just walking over the burrows as we walk round the field the we put up a covey of partridges and a hare heads for next door , we decided to do the only other burrows of any amount on the farm and head to a hedge at the back of the farm house the lurcher walked over all the burrows and the son just gave the Jill's a run threw the last burrow so they got out the box , The farmer was waiting at the car I've got to tell you I've let the place for pheasant shooting this year so after a good few years we parted on good terms I like to think it was due to my success as there's no rabbits there but he says I'm standing down come April my son in law will be taking over and I think he had a fair bit to do with it . But there's one tree on the place so I don't know where the pheasants are going to roost 1 Quote Link to post
random 659
Sounds like a lot of stuff on that land and shame its ended but if there's not much rabbit there now maybe they'll want you back in a few years when the numbers are more noticeable?? Quote Link to post
The one 8,593
It's annoying as I moved with him when he got bought out to build houses on his last farm and I know he's no short of a few bob , and he was the type of farmer who knew what was on his land and we had a greement he said don't kill them for killings sake but kill them if you can use them so it was handy for the odd deer etc when you needed them Quote Link to post

Bobo 136
I'll tell you why he's let it for shooting, because it was the middle of January before you finally dragged your carcass out the house to step foot on the place. He probably thought you were dead or had given up. Quote Link to post
