moxy 617
You know the ones. Compressed sawdust and chippings. Burn real easy and pump out a fair bit of heat. Now the thing is. I generate loads of waste. I wouldn't like to estimate what I produce when logging but I threw out a wheelie bins worth last week from the garage alone whilst turning. I have the means to compress this stuff under high pressure. Not worked the figures but I will be using a ram with around 18 tonnes of pressure. After a read on the tinter web on the manufacturing process of the genuine article. This is something I can't replicate. So I would need a binding agent. Something like emulsified paper. Potato or corn starch. Steering clear from the obvious like waxes and sugar syrup as they burn dirty. Anyone had a go or got a bit of tech input before I have a play? Cheers. moxy 617
spray with a weak solution of wall paper paste until damp is another way I was looking to not use methylcellulose. I'm guessing that will eventually foul up the flue.
villaman 9,982
Or just water
moxy 617
Or just water I'm doubtful water will be just enough to bind? But until I have a lake about I haven't a clue!
Rake aboot 4,936
All that wood is too good to waste, so get trying bud. Have no idea about binding agents, all I know is that they ask too much for those bio logs when they sell them.
