PeskyWabbits 464
Sorry, if this is in the wrong section but everything seemed to be locked down. I have noticed that there are a lot of requests for shooting land and I imagine that for most people getting access to shoot is quite difficult. I am in rural West Yorkshire and land round here is appx £75 per acre per year! And this is for premium pasture. So I would expect more interesting rough ground to be a bit less. So have gun clubs considered creating their own syndicate and leasing a few acres for use by members? And you could always get a contractor to cut and bale the grass then sell the silage to help with costs. Just an idea.
smithie 2,444
I don't think it's a bad idea but the more members you have the less you have to shoot as everybody will want the rabbits.
jacknife 2,005
Its easier just to pay the land owner for the sporting or Vermin rights
PeskyWabbits 464
That's true but easier isn't necessary better and there are 365 days a year to share out. And you could have 'rest' months when you sub let to horsie folk or dog trainers, Summer grazing etc
ryaldinhio 5,104
Its easier just to pay the land owner for the sporting or Vermin rights Paying for vermin rights?!?! Thats one of the things wrong with this game. Land owners have a legal duty to control vermin on their land, as soon as they get an offer of money they will see it as the norm. Makes it harder for the normal guys trying to get local perms, or any perms in fact. I can understand paying for game shooting because there is a cost associated with rearing to release pheasants etc. Paying for vermin right??? c'mon.

Unfortunately that's the way it is People are desperate for somewhere to shoot and farmers know this You also have people tying up huge areas of land covering numerous farms......then charging anything from £40 for a day on the pigeons
