philpot 5,067
Would it be possible to expand a little more with problems you found and experienced or just disliked with the Rotex RM8? All the best Renos There are people out there who love the RM8 and there are quite a few who can't wait to get rid of them. One of the main issues is power drop off, mine was putting out 11.4fp which after about 2500 pellets started to fall quite quickly. I spoke to the importers who said...........it was the air, not full...........pellet type...............my imagination.........faulty chrono. In other words, any excuse but not the gun. When I advised them that a number of other people on the forum were having similar issues, they said that is the problem with forums, talk rubbish My gun dropped down to 9.5fp and falling. I had a chat with a guy on the airgum forum who put me onto Airtech who advised me that the reg used in these guns was a joke and could never work for long. This was born out when several guys sent their guns back, when returned they were fine for a while then the power started to drop again. Carl at Airtech had four RM8's in stock for the same problem and he was making a completely new reg to get over the problem. They are front heavy which was not so noticeable in the shop but when you have them in your hands for a while................you certainly notice. This is because they use a steel air bottle and so again people were getting Airtech to fit a BSA R10 aluminium bottle. The choice was to spend a couple of hundred quid just to get it working to a satisfactory level or part ex it for another gun which was the route I took. To be honest, I partly wish I had had the mods done and reduced the barrel from 20'' down to around 12 - 14'' and kept it as a ratter but I think an Ultra or Brocock Compatto will do a far better job. Phil You will do your self a favour by getting shot of it and get yourself an ultra, I highly rate the ultra, I had a older ultra mmc which I should have kept, another will be joining my hw100s and tx200hc without a doubt.Good luck with your hw100 you will soon find out that it was money well spent 4 Quote Link to post
