Does any one use it, or know best way to buy it without paying vets silly money ?

 

I have a few birds that suffer with mycoplasma, it's a re occurring thing, yet even though the vets have agreed in the past that's the problem, and Tylan is the way to treat it, (and even supplied Tylan last year) and it will nearly always come back every year, they still want to see one of the infected birds for a £70 fee, just seems to me they are just trying to make a fortune off the back of it.

Tylan is a broad spectrum antibiotic ! Is it the same chickens getting each year ! With pheasants we are told to kill infected birds and treat other birds with aviaison! Also can use denaguard!

Yes it's the same birds, they have been treated a couple of times by the vet, you can never get rid of it once you have it, all you are able to do is treat the symptoms and keep them healthy, they can go a year or more with no problems, or can have it every month, no way of knowing why or when, but when they are ok they are perfect, that's the reason I was surprised the vets would not prescribe it again without seeing the birds, last time I had to educate the vet on my co, they had to google it ! But now they know it will always keep coming back, they know I have it, why won't they prescribe it without trying to rip me off.

 

The only way to stop it is to vaccinate, but that needs to be done as a chick, so no way to do my flock, so all new ones are coming in vaccinated, and the older birds are just dying out slowly

 

No idea what denagaurd and aviaison are, will have a read up on them

Yep, they both sell it, and needs to be on a prescription, thanks for the link, but nothing I didn't already know about it in there

hi lads I have just been onto rabid , I have a contact for tylovet injectable and tylosin soluable , iv googled it and it seems to be the gear for the job , has anyone on here used it ,atb

My mate works on a farm and they use it for cattle .Its the same stuff he checked with there vet job done ????

Spoke to my dairy farmer mates and they don't keep it, and the only one I know who uses it in pigs has it premixed in the food as and when needed
