terryd 8,955
Woke up this morning with the wind blowing but nice and cold. Decided to try a little wood I new of that has one or two about. Called into to see the farmer even though his been letting me go there since I was 11 it feel like a liberty if I don't check in with him now and again. We started at the top of the wood and I walked through the cover while the dog walked along the top peeping down every now and again as if to say keep up the good work the swine Then his nose went up and he came and joined me and started casting about. he stopped for a sniff at a set of holes but carried on I was going to run them through just in case but I could see he stopped and was giving a solid mark further up. Just stood there staring at a clump of brambles. I couldn't even see a hole but then saw a little bolt hole under the leaves I could tell the rabbit was very close by the dog. there was only only one other hole which was the main one. The ferret had hardly gone in when the rabbit bolted. The best bit was the dog grabbed it out the brambles pulled it back but once he was happy it wasn't going any where he dropped it. Then stood looking incase there was another good progress because he normally slams a netted rabbit and I have trouble getting him off. So its all falling together nicely There was more scent further along the wood but the cover was a bit dense cracking hour or two and we only need one rabbit for a bit fun and the dogs doing great 3 Quote Link to post
