dodger 3,594
Just a quick question I'v got an astra which has done 95000 miles now,it's a 1.4 so I think it might be the chain belt,it drives spot on n always drove steady with nearly a full s/h but with it having 90 odd thousand on it now I'm thinking to have the belt done or if it is the chain will I get a few more thousand miles out of it before I need to change it as chains last longer don't they? Also if n when I do get it done how much am I looking at cheers ; )

walshie 2,804
Just to confuse the issue, some 1.4s have belts and some have chains. If it's a chain and the oil is changed regularly, it won't need changing. If it's a belt, they need to be done. Get it to a garage to find out which it is.
