ryaldinhio 5,188
have a check around below the tree. If its plum there will be remenants of fruit or stones knockin about? My first thought was it looks like my prolific plum tree. I cut one of the main trunks off it early this year for two reasons, 1 it was heading towards where I am building a shed. 2 thinking it would make the other bit produce more fruit.....In actual fact it produced NO fruit this year! So it could be plum? I wluld say it looks to have had some recent heavy pruning comparing the trunk and the new growth at the top. My other thought was hazel but I did think why would you plant hazel on your allotment? And my experience of hazel it is a multiple shoots type of trunk rather than one? jok 3,471
Hazel it certainly is not. Damson is by far more likely Certainly the leaves suggest this.
