air gun ant 1,666
Pups finally allowed out today, all jabbed up etc (thank f**k! She's a real live wire lol) I was thinking of taking down to my mates and letting her have a good run in the fields behind his house, with my cocker and his cocker and whippet. He lives about a mile away so it would 2 miles plus running around like a knob lol probably with a couple hours rest in the pub inbetween shouldn't be to much for a pup will it? Cheers ant Quote Link to post

air gun ant 1,666
What would you class as a short walk gaf? As I say there will be a few hours in the pub in between so perhaps class it as 2 one mile walks and a bit of socialising? Or should I just drive down? I don't want do her any damage but the way teararses around the house trying to kill the spaniel she'd be better of out walking! Lol she's a big pup? Quote Link to post
Chid 6,835
A mile is only 15 minutes walking , thats not to far Imo my pups are running about for a lot longer than that a day , just be prepared to stop if you think the pups getting tired Quote Link to post

Lloyd90 509
Walking a pup for an hour on a lead where it don't move much vs half an hour free running can be very different. Quality not quantity. The best thing I'd say is get a good bond going with the dog. Make sure it knows when its out that your amazing to be with, cos you make the magic happen. Once that clicks youll have a lovely little team member 1 Quote Link to post
flipbull 1,139
Walk the pup let it have a run about then when you go the pub it will probably sleep at your feet, then lead walk it back home. Bad news is, overtime you will have to have less and less pints as the pup won't be bothered sleeping at your feet and will just want to be out running free. 2 Quote Link to post
