Lads, know this should be in nv forum but i think this board gets more views so hopefullg a response.

 

I did my own home brew NV. worked brill untill after about three uses the ten bob battery from china failed. What batteries do people use? A link to page would be great. I need to get a new one but want to know it is going to be reliable. I was thinking of just paying 100quid and gettin the nitesite one with pouch and charger so I knew it was good quality.

 

any help apreciated.

Hello mate, when I built my home brew NV I just used a female cigar plug fitting so I could use my 14amp lithium lamping battery and that worked a treat. It would still work with a lead acid battery, but I'd choose a better connection than the cigar type as they are not the most secure. Hope this helps

Thanks for the replies fellas. It was the quality of the battery that was the issue. was after a recomendation for one that has stood the test of time. will PM somebloke moxy cheers.

Iv a couple of the blue ones from China, only issue I had was a charger that went pop but battery is still good.

Thats what I had but battery failed. Tried my set up on a different battery and it works. The cheapo chinky one lasted a couple of charges. Buy cheap buy twice kind of thinking is pushing me to the nitesite battery and pouch.

 

I have also seen a debben one for 80quid with a pouch that goes on a belt but not sure how annoying a trailing lead will be.

I'm not so sure on the difference inside them tbh, i think the hawke one is loads of rechargeables linked, so pressume they are heavier. I had the other one for ages until charger went pop, unfortunately I was on one of my perms in the middle of nowhere, got on Amazon though and they delivered one to us next day, cost me more but got another couple of nights shooting.

Ordered a battery from the below:

I ordered the 2800mAh one with 1A charger, £27.50 Delivered. ordered sunday arrived today. looks spot on for me, tiny comoared to my last one and I reckon with that mAh should run my diy NV for a couple hours atleast. I only do short sessions so not an issue really. I am just charging it up now to give it a bit of a duration test and will come back with the findings.

Also orderd this pouch for 4quidish and it fits perfectly. Elastic on it goes through the thumbhole on the hw100kt or around the body of the IMP so can go straight on both my set ups. I will put some drop box links on. Well pleased with it.
