difference between a £100 bang or a £500 second hand one gonna make that much difference?

what that price included shipping?

No mate I can get a semi auto o/u secondhand at my local rfd for about 4-500 nicker but would rather get something to start me off before committing my finances. I have a habit of starting cheap and ending up spending big

Nobby I got my sgc and bought a cheap sxs basically so I had one and to have a pop on clays etc. I have been clay shooting once with it and wouldve had more chance hitting em with a hand full of pebbles! Had a go with my mates semi auto and hit 70%. It isnt the gun its something Im doing/not doing but its just not right. Im inexperienced with s/g's and have been considerin a few lessons and try a few before I buy another. a few hours tutorin at local clay hole are reasonable and sometimes they sell guns aswell so may let you have a try before ypu buy? I have a budget of about £500 in my head but have other priorities at the min. I have seen brownings, webleys, marikous etc in this range so there is plenty of choice. Think I fancy a lanber sport from what I heard they are good starter gun.

I'm by no means a die hard shooter but do enjoy a few hours out and would never turn down increased bag sizes, difference between a £100 bang or a £500 second hand one gonna make that much difference?

What's important is how the gun fits and balances, not what it costs. So long as the gun isn't clapped out (ie is still in proof and functional) and is reliable, and fits and balances well for you, then that's all that matters.

A guy with a £50 gun that fits and balances well will bag far more game than a guy with a 2nd hand £15K custom gun that fits or balances poorly. The gun doesn't kill the game, you do!

@ryaldinhio, find out what brand balance you like by shooting a few as most people fall into 1 of 2 camps - browning or Berreta, from there you'll have a better idea of what to buy as the 2 main brands own many others plus many other brands balance like one or the other. If you like Browning, consider Browning, Winchester, Miroku, Remington. If you like Berreta consider Beretta, Lanber, Benelli, Franchi. I don't think Beretta owns Lanber but from memory, it was a long long time since I handled one so I stand to be corrected, Lanbers balance like Berreta.

If on a budget, the main 2 brands will probably be out of your reach, but you kind find some good guns in the sub brands 2nd hand.

If I had one piece of advice it would be don't buy purely on a brand, buy on balance. Try Beretta and Browning, find which you like best then proceed from there.
