Old Dog teaches youngster new tricks

After a week of the flu and shuffling about the house like Darth Vader I decided to get myself out on the hill with my pup and her mother today. Just a bit of general education to bring her along. Lessons today inlcuded :

6 months, nearly the size of her mother allready, but sadly nowhere near as fast as her mother was at that age :thumbdown: I am going to leave her til Christmas and try her on the whiteys, give her a couple of easy slips in with her mother and see how she gets on at retreiving them :thumbs:

Just great! Love to see the mothers teaching their pups.

 

Just gotta say, one of the quickest, most devestating catch dogs I ever had both on fen hares and daytime rabbits and lamped rabbits was as slow as a coach until he hit 18 months old. He had a fair bit of Saluki in him and I despaired of him ever being fast enough for anything. Stamina he had by the bucketful from the start, but the speed came later: all is not yet lost! Quite a few Saluki types are like this: look as though they couldn't catch a cold as pups, but its bunny beware once they've matured a bit.
