redial 81
Some advice please. I am thinking of getting into the dogs with a Monmoore trainer. Just a share at this stage to test the water. I know you don't make any money out of moderate dogs but I am told they are paid for running and a little prize money now and then would help with training fees. Cheers, Phil. Any advice
robin hood 109
average cost is around 7pound a day training fees, run money depends on which track you race monmore is good, buying a share is a good way to get in the game, just find a trainer who tells it how it is or its the poor house if you like a bet
Country Joe 1,411
Go on to the Greyhound scene forum, its a busy forum, lots of owners, trainers, and syndicates use it, you will get a lot more info on there, if you do a search, there's lots of posts on syndicates. ryaldinhio 5,189
I had a spell working with a greyhound trainer. I would say if you like going to the dogs and have a spare bit of cash then do it. If you are lookin to make a few quid dont bother. If you are buying a pup then it really is anyones guess as to whether they will make it regardless of blood line, it is a very very small percentage that make it to be really good. The other option is buy a young one who has ran a few trials and showing promise but that is guna cost ya. By the way if you are thinking if this then go and watch the puppy trials to see whats about, dont ask a trainer what pups he has spare with potential because them ones arent for sale! SO assuming you have dropped lucky or paid big buvks and got yourself a good dog when its winning it may cover training costs, when it isnt then it wont, when its lame then it wont, when its not got a race the it wont, when it rolls on the first bend and needs to be pts theres another cost. Oh and if you do get that top top dog then some big wig owner will make an offer you cant refuse and you will make a few quid but chances of that are about 5 and bonus I reckon. All in all if you are doing it as you enjoy the sport and have some spare cash crack on. As a possible money maker dont bother.
