Removing Pigeons What's The Law

Recommended Posts

I've been asked by a home owner who lives in the country side to remove some ferrel pigeons using my air riffle that are roosting and shitting all over his house and garden what would be the law regards shooting and removing them ATB BB

Be aware that any pellets you shoot should not exceed the boundaries of the land/property you have permission to shoot over, so shooting up to ferals on a roof you would need a backstop unless you had permission of land owners within about 200 yards. Hope that makes sense. Try to get yourself tucked out of sight of any neighbours to save a visit from plod.

I removed some ferals for my neighbour last year which were nesting under his solar panels and shitting all over his conservatory and decking, and it took ages waiting for safe shots, bearing in mind I didn't want to shoot his solar panels and it is an urban environment, and done in the first hour or so of daylight so's not to spook the neighbours. When they line up with the chimney behind is a good backstop, or in my case I had some very satisfying shots when they hopped under the eaves onto his security light thinking they were safe.
