shropshire dan 467
Hi all about to get my new rifle and it's topped with a schmidt and bender klassik 8x56 hungarian. My question is will it be a good lamping scope. I currently have a Redfield revolution scope and it'd great but sometimes struggle whilst lamping. Is the S+B likely to be better. DeerhoundLurcherMan 997
Yes, very good lamping scope, nice big clear picture, nice fine reticle. but it is not a long range scope... If you regularly shoot past 250, there are better scopes for the job... If you are stalking and not regularly shooting past 250 when lamping its perfect.. 2 Quote Link to post
walshie 2,804
Great scope for lamping. Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
Better glass and light gathering most certainly, it'll look a lot clearer through it on the lamp. Quote Link to post
shropshire dan 467
Thanks lads. I don't often shoot past 250 certainly at night. Anybody know the adjustments as their in blooming german lol. Thanks Quote Link to post

Alsone 789
S&B are pretty much one of the best if not the best scope brands you can buy. That's why most police forces and professional snipers use them. Can't comment on the particular model other than I know it's a low end model, but you won't go far wrong with S&B as a brand. BTW, I take it from this post, you won the lottery. Quote Link to post
shropshire dan 467
I wish lol. I a cracking deal for my .22-250. I went and had a look at a preety much new steyr mannlicher pro hunter .243 and it's has new s+b scope and new T8 mod. He wanted a .22-250 so came to a deal of £350 cash and my zastava setup for the steyr. Happy days so he's basically give me £650 for my setup and I've give him a grand for his. Well happy can't wait for the ticket to come back now with the variation on. The steyr is all paid for and 200 rounds so as you can imagine the ticket can't come quicker lol Quote Link to post
Alsone 789
If it's brand new you got a very very good deal. The scope alone is £950 on Uttings's website: http://www.uttings.co.uk/p105544-schmidt-and-bender-classic-fixed-power-hungarian-8x56-30mm-ir-rifle-scope/#.VaYuIfl66Fs Even if it turned out to be naff, which I very much doubt, I reckon you could sell it 2nd hand for a good price and enough to buy a Nikon or similar. There's a review on Gunmart here: http://www.gunmart.net/accessories_review/classic_european_fixed_power_deer_stalking_scopes/ Edited July 15, 2015 by Alsone Quote Link to post
walshie 2,804
They're the illuminated reticle ones on Uttings. I have IR on my Docter scope, but never use it. Non IR Hungarian S&Bs are about £500 new and worth every penny IMO. Can't think of many people (except perhaps Charlie Caller) who would sell a S&B to buy a Nikon. Quote Link to post
MIK 4,763
Heres my lamping set up with the S&B 8X56 like others have said a decent scope for lamping and a good scope for low light but agree my Ziess is better for long range 1 Quote Link to post
