An old (not very good) photo I took back in june 2007, I thought may be of interest (or not) of a couple of male stag beetles which landed on my bivvy whilst doing a bit of night fishing. There were a few more about the vicinity, and there was an old, large rotting tree stump about 20 ft from where I was plotted up.

I found a stag beetle website and sent them some photo's and the circumstances of the night along with ordnance survey reference. When I went back on the site THEY had claimed copywrite of MY photos, bloody cheek.

Don't see them very often nowadays, found one in my hallway by the front door a few years back, not a clue how it got there though, just put it out the back garden. Those 2 on the bivvy I returned to the rotting stump well away from each other. Don't know if they fight but the males have formidable pincers unlike the female's which are a lot smaller. Didn't want to be stumbling about my swim in the dark and tread on them, and they had gone by first light.

Didn't mind that website putting my photo's up, but claiming copywrite?

They give me the creeps. I came home one morning after a night out and I emptied the pockets of my jacket onto the bedside table - fags, lighter, wallet, keys, phone, live stag beetle :icon_eek: and it looked pissed off too.

Any photo posted on most websites become the intellectual property of that web site. Same with articles written and submitted. If you write a story and send it to the Countrymans weekly. It is then their property. Why do you think that some members do not post a lot of photos even though they have some cracking photos.
