allgame 0 Posted November 12, 2007 Report Share Posted November 12, 2007 iv got two ferrets in the one cage a jill and a hob my jills an awsome little hunter while the males useless there about a year old they have constant food in the cage but while my female is a good weight and always active the male is almost annerexic even though he has a full stomach iv never felt more bones on a living animal plus he sleeps contantly any one help u c i figure the reason hes a shit worker is because he has no energy so once hes healthy agian he should come good so how can i get him to put on wieght Quote Link to post

Just wastch them & see how they behave , only thing i would do at this stage is to seperate them & see if you cant tempt the skinny one by hand feeeding, maybe have him indoors , if he isnt getting any food or very little he will be sleepy , i think you need to act now as you could loose him, it may be someother problem, if tgempting him with food isnt working get him to a vets pdq Quote Link to post
allgame 0 Posted November 12, 2007 Author Report Share Posted November 12, 2007 thank you kay i think iv decieded to try for another week with him and if i cant see him putting on anymore weight give him to somone a little bit more experienced them me mabey hed simply respond better to a different enviroment you see im studying for exams at the moment and have littel time on my hands to watch the ferrets and as u said i might not have long left in him so thank you for the advice Quote Link to post

This often happens if the are mated with a sterile hob as a way of bringing them off season, as they will remain on heat for ages and so are prone to infections. Quote Link to post
