Finally took the plunge today, having returned to airgunning after 30+ years away - used to shoot through my teens and up until my mid twenties, but drifted away from it as job, family, etc took over my time. Turned 60 last year and found my old Meteor in the loft whilst having a clear out and it reminded me of some good times, so decided to give it a go again. The old beast, much as I love it and would never part with it, is well past its prime, so did some research (must thank Si and Davy for their excellent YouTube videos, as well as all the experienced hands on here for great advice and information), plus a lot of reading and visited a couple of shops to see what's about. Amazing to see how the technology has changed/improved - I wish I'd had the choice of that's available these days 40 years ago.

The best isn't cheap, of course, so I opted to look for a good quality used gun, on the basis that it would give me better value than a cheaper new one, be repairable and last a lot longer. Decided to stick with a springer - simpler, no tanks, charging, etc to worry about and I'm a bit of a traditionalist about most things. Found an absolutely mint, barely used (has had half a tin of pellets through it) walnut Pro Sport yesterday at a very reasonable price and picked it up this evening. Had a plink in the garden when I got it home. What can I say? It's astonishing. Smooth, accurate (even with me driving it) and it looks fabulous. Think we're going to be very happy together.

Am going to join a club and get stuck in. Looking forward to it. Regards to all and thanks for reading this.
