krawnden 1,036
Like foxpack says, it might be a bit big. I have a 3/4 terrier, 1/4 whippet that's only a year old but so far shows real promise as a busher/ferreter/ratter (no bedlington in her though). If these pups turn out anything like mine they ought to do the job (assuming the bedlington blood in them is any good)... 2 Quote Link to post
Guest foxpack
good beddy blood is rare as hens teeth ,same as good whippet blood ,get them both your on to a winner .but as i say to big for me ,if you already have whippets waiting on the outside for rabbits to bolt do you really want a beddy xwhiippet .fast and furious action down dyke edges etz i would recommend a spanielx terrier.i personally like a dog to be vocal ,plus you need to look at the terrain your going to do .i do a lot of gorse patches ,very dense and very low to the ground so anything over 15 inches is,nt much use to me .I also do small wood ,etc ,so the dogs have to be fullof wind ,cause as long as i,m out they have to be out.i think the beddy x would be a bit of both worlds while rabbiting ,but it might also be standing out side cover waiting for sumthing else to bolt the rabbits ..lol 2 Quote Link to post
matt1979 766
I am sure they would be useful pups if breed right, but I would agree with other comments that I would be looking for an out and out busher if you already have whippets to run the bolters. I personally like little terriers but they obviously have their drawbacks in terms of potentially going to ground, depends the ground you work I suppose. I work a lot of small wooded areas and tight hedgerows, so my tiny little SLT suits me fine, as she can get in some tight spots which hold rabbits. not saying small size is the b all and end all, but with all the will in the world, other larger dogs simple couldn't get in some of these spots, without either extreme contortion skills or a chainsaw atb Matt. 1 Quote Link to post
brenner 773
Could be a usefull allround rabbiting dog but all depends on what whippet and what Bedlington in the x. That to me would be the deciding factor above all else Quote Link to post
