That's ironic: the first post refers to an animal whose hairs have adapted to become quills which look like elongated spines...and the second is a species without a spine! :haha:

Actually; Just as an aside here - because I'm getting slowly plastered and can't be arsed to find anywhere else to put it!;

 

Having mentioned the book in the original post: Didn't B. Vessey Fitzgerald have a paperback edition of his " Vanishing Wildlife of Britain " released, about 1970? Only, the stinker is ..... It had a f*cking BADGER on the front cover!!! :rofl:

a copper friend :icon_eek: knocked over a possum on the a68 at brocksbushs roundabout... about 4 years ago though

 

and i saw a photo of what i think was a red necked walloby, that was taken near alnick near the borders, very recent.. think it escaped from a private colecter a few years previous
