bhawk 64
thats something you should have asked the vet while there. No idea whether he will still be capable of bringing a jill out of season, you can try though 1 Quote Link to post
Bosun11 537
Stick him with one and see. If your vet said no need for the op. then if he mates there will be nowt to worry about. Quote Link to post
tom17 18
I know I should have asked but I forgot ? Jills are in season now so will keep an eye on them and hope he does the job Quote Link to post
neil cooney 10,416
Did you tell the vet the reason for a vasectomy ? Unless they did tests what's to say the hob still wont get the jill pregnant ? 1 Quote Link to post
bobcullen79 1,495
The chances of him having the useful type of deformity are slim I would think. He could have one good nut and still get your jills pregnant. If you dont want kits, I wouldnt trust him. As mother nature has a knack of throwing a spanner in the works. Theres lads had their ferrets vasectomised only to get a shit load of pregnant jills, now whether that is a bodged op or the power of nature is anyones guess. But shit still happens. Phone the vet, ask him a few questions, if your not happy try another vet. Or, put the hob to one jill and if she gets caught, you`ll know he`s all good and could try another vet for the op. By me at least, I get the impression these young vets dont like doing the vasectomy on ferrets, castration is fine as its a much easier op and they get to practice on dogs and cats all the time. Shit, I watched a young vet stick the needle straight through my jills scruff and squirt the jill jab all over the surgery floor!). The vets that do do it, will ask if you want the tubes they removed sent off to make sure they cut the right bits out. Doesnt install much confidence..., but its another £ in their back pockets. 2 Quote Link to post
The one 8,600
I gave a hob kit to BPR for his son and the following year he went to get it snipped and was told it had deformed testes he gave it away to a pet home and got another hob snipped , shame as it was a present to his son reece and it might of done the deed and be unable to reproduce Quote Link to post
