Just got back from a couple of hours out with the lad. Some foxes just don't know when they're dead. Had a vixen in my sights at about 100 yards and got a nice clean shot right in the boiler room and it went down splat as you'd expect.

As we drove the buggy over to pick it up, it got up and ran the whole width of the fairway and dropped down dead. We drove over to it and as I got out the buggy it got up again and ran across another fairway. When we got to it this time it was stone dead, but looking at the bullet placement it was dead on the first shot. Never seen them run twice. :hmm:

Out with Seeker last year, he shot a dog fox @ about 70 yards with his 6.5x55, I was working the lamp, heard the bullet hit home, fox hits the deck, got up and ran like the bloody wind, it took us about half an hour to find it, eventually found it stuffed in the hedge bottom about a hundred yards from where it dropped, it was so tightly jammed in it must have hit the hedge at 30 mph, when we dragged it out, it had a hole the size of a tennis ball in its chest, 100 grain hollow point :icon_eek: but I have to say I have never seen one run twice.

Shot one this night, heard the thump. Drove over and couldn't find it. Jump out the motor and done a bit of searching. Found it crawling away with it's back broken dragging its back legs.

Shot another one out my patio window. About 100 yards, no thump. It dropped but got up again. Was walking around in circles, fell down, got up again then f****d off. Think that bullet clipped its head somewhere.
